10/5/2023 1 Comment Week 2: the Start! This week I have dedicated time aside to setting up and starting the basis of all of my slideshows and sheets for my project about North Carolina Public Universities. A few examples included in this are tuition, average acceptance rate, and a comparison of which might fit your needs! The plan is to link and site resources and websites for others to get more than just the basics of the particular college. A suggestion page has also been added! This is for myself and for anyone else who may be interested in my project.
The concern when going to college is always, "Can I get in?" and "Can I afford it?" Other issues may appear later on, but your initial thought is always that. Most people do not have the benefit of having lots of money and a superior record to allow them into the top universities. So this page might be able to eliminate and isolate options for myself and others. Though these are just statistics and based on pure numbers, the likelihood of you getting into college is low but possible. Just because one school has a higher acceptance rate than another, does not mean that one is "easier" to get into. And that just because you get into the low acceptance rate school does not mean that you will get into the high acceptance rate school. The suggestion page is linked to my personal email and will take in any opinions and/or ideas that anyone has. I did this to allow anyone to have a say in my project. This will benefit my collaboration skills and possibly give me some insight into what my peers may be interested in. Ideas are always welcome, as they provide a sense of creativity when I am at a blank! This entire project is a learning process, not a right or wrong answer. This is a huge challenge for me and I am hoping to have a positive impact and for the project to be beneficial.

9/29/2023 0 Comments Week 1: the futureI am so excited to begin this project! After hearing from past students and also being included in some Genius hour projects, the time has come!
So far in this project I have created the base layer of the website and done some brainstorming! The ideas so far include colleges (four year and two year), Military, and jobs after high school. Though I have a pretty good idea of what I would like to do, the paths I can take are limitless. I am hopeful for this website to be a helpful tool to anyone that is unsure of what they want to do after graduation. The end goal of this project is to see something new and interesting. I based this project off of what Ms. Dunn did my freshman year in her English class. She wanted to give opportunities to students to see new things and get a new perspective on what the possibilities are. This might include jobs, colleges, and the military. My interest may be in a particular field (healthcare), but seeing something different is never bad! Over half my grade when being asked could not tell you any slight detail to what they want to be when they grow up, and if they can it will change over time. So this project will put me into situations where I am confused and need help, and to websites that are factual and some that are not. The results expected are to just have a better understanding for my future. Success of this project will not be measured with what I want to do and the "end game" result, but what I am positive as to what I do not want to do. Not knowing is the fun of life, but having the necessary understanding of at least what I do not want to do will put me farther ahead in life. This is why graduation is such a joyous and scary moment. But with this project to reflect on, I wont be scared but thrilled. |
AuthorMy name is Abigail Lankford and I am trying to figure out my future! I understand that it's a little early to start finalizing ideas but I plan on using this project to fully grasp all of my options. I hope that anyone viewing this might find it beneficial! Archives |
